The Office of Surveyor-General Victoria (OSGV) introduced the Trainee Licensed Surveyor Scheme to help full-time students complete their degree and develop their professional and personal skills, and encourage them to take up employment with OSGV.

The scheme is for students entering the final two years of a surveying course that leads to a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) degree at RMIT University or Master of Engineering (Spatial) at the University of Melbourne.  Each year during this period, students will complete a minimum of 15 weeks of work placement.

The graduate surveyors will be offered full-time fixed-term employment with OSGV and enter a Professional Training Agreement with the Surveyors Registration Board of Victoria as a trainee licensed surveyor.

Through a comprehensive structured program, trainees gain experience in cadastral surveying in urban and rural environments, geodetic surveying, survey plan and map preparation and related aspects of Victoria’s major infrastructure projects.

Successful completion of the scheme leads to registration as a licensed surveyor and a permanent position with OSGV.

Applications for the 2017 Trainee Licensed Surveyor Scheme are to be submitted on the application form.

The form, covering letter and resume can be sent to

Applications close on Friday 1 September 2017.
