The Office of Surveyor-General Victoria (OSGV) issues practice directives for licensed surveyors, which includes advice about interpreting relevant aspects of surveying Acts and regulations.

All cadastral surveys undertaken from 27 July 2018 must comply with the Victorian Cadastral Surveys Practice Directives, July 2018.

These practice directives replace the Surveyor-General of Victoria Practice Directives -September 2014 (Edition 3) and incorporate, amongst other things, the introduction of the Geocentric Datum of Australia 2020 (GDA2020).

The practice directives also discuss the connection of cadastral surveys to the Survey Control Network (SCN), the preparation of survey documents by a licensed surveyor and other matters relating to cadastral surveying.
